Ask three Ahmedabad founders where they incubated, and you may get three different answers. Gujarat has many incubators. Three names come up the most: GUSEC, IIMA Ventures, and iCreate.
They look similar on paper. All three offer mentors, workspace, and a network. But they differ in cost, location, and the kind of startup they suit best. Pick wrongly, and you lose months.
This guide compares them in plain words. Every fact links to a source. It is part of Gujpreneur’s series on Gujarat startup support.

GUSEC: The Free Starting Point
GUSEC calls itself a “zero-day, zero-cost” support system. It sits inside Gujarat University. Core incubation has no fee, rent, or equity, per its own website. It lists 100+ startups.

It also connects you to schemes. Its homepage links straight to SSIP 2.0 applications. New to that policy? Read our SSIP 2.0 eligibility and benefits guide. GUSEC is also a nodal institute for Startup Gujarat seed support, which we track in our monthly Gujarat grants list.
Watch for: its NIDHI seed fund is an investment scheme. Ask about equity before you sign.
IIMA Ventures: The Network Play
IIMA Ventures was earlier called IIMA-CIIE. It is a Centre of Excellence backed by the Government of India’s Department of Science & Technology. It offers incubation space and invests in early-stage startups.

Its workspace is paid. The official FAQ lists a 6-month contract, a one-month refundable deposit, and upfront monthly payment. Plans include Wi-Fi, electricity, and meeting rooms. Funding and equity terms depend on the programme. Check the current programs page first. You do not need a registered company for some programs.
iCreate: The Campus for Builders

It sits on a 40-acre campus. It says it has supported over 860 innovations and 60+ patents. Its focus areas include electric vehicles, agritech, health tech, and industrial automation.
Watch for: it recommends living on campus. Startups seeking state grants must be an LLP or Pvt Ltd registered in Gujarat. Fees and equity are not clearly published, so ask each programme directly.
Which One Fits You?
- Student or first-time founder with little money: start with GUSEC.
- Have a prototype and want investors and mentors: look at IIMA Ventures.
- Building a physical product: consider iCreate.
- Want the state’s own hub and a ₹3,000 desk: see i-Hub Gujarat’s grants and how to apply.
You can combine them. For example, GUSEC and iCreate both appear in the Startup India Seed Fund Scheme incubator list.
Conclusion
There is no single best incubator. There is only the right one for your stage, budget, and product. Compare the costs first, then the equity terms, then the location.
