The Screen That Connects Us All: World Television Day

Celebrating World Television Day With Gujarat’s Favourite Serials and Stars

Television has always been more than a box in our living room. It feels like a friend who visits every evening with fresh stories, familiar faces, and warm smiles. On World Television Day, we celebrate this friend that keeps our evenings lively, teaches us new lessons, and brings our Gujarati culture into every home. Television has changed a lot over the years, but the love we have for our Gujarati shows and actors has stayed strong.

This day is the right time to look at how Gujarati serials, actors, producers, and hosts continue to add colour and pride to our screens. It is also a moment to respect the hard work of the people who create stories that make us laugh, cry, learn, and dream.

Gujarati Serials That Connect With Us

Television became a part of our Gujarati homes long ago. Slowly, it turned into a routine. Families gather after dinner, children hurry to finish homework, and elders prepare tea. All because a favourite show is about to start.

Gujarati television has grown very fast in the past few years. Today, many serials are created with strong stories, clean comedy, strong characters, and emotional moments.

Some serials show the daily life of Gujarati homes. Some focus on romance. Some highlight young talent. Some bring old folk tales alive again. This variety keeps viewers excited and proud.

Producers also feel that Gujarati culture is a treasure of stories. Asit Kumarr Modi once shared in an interview that the Gujarati way of life is full of colour, values, and humour, which makes storytelling rich and memorable. His words reflect what many creators feel today.

Our Stars Who Shine Beyond the Screen

Gujarat has given India many talented faces who brighten both Gujarati and national television.

  • Dilip Joshi is beloved for bringing the character of Jethalal Gada to life in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah.
  • Supriya Pathak has earned respect for her powerful performances across films and television.
  • Manasi Parekh Gohil is another well-known personality admired for her versatile work.
  • Deven Bhojani has built a solid reputation through his contributions to Gujarati and Indian TV.
  • Ratna Pathak Shah continues to be an influential figure in the industry with her remarkable body of work.
  • Apara Mehta remains a familiar and respected name in television.
  • Shrenu Parikh has gained popularity through shows like “Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon… Ek Baar Phir and Ishqbaaaz”.

Nostalgia vs Today: How TV Has Changed But Still Feels the Same

Television has grown a lot, but some memories will always stay close to our hearts. Many of us still remember shows like Kyuki Saans Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, which showed big families, deep emotions, and strong bonds.

Today, the same story has come back in a new modern way through Anupama, which also talks about family and relationships, but with today’s problems and dreams. It shows how stories may change, but emotions stay the same.

We also remember Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, which gave us clean comedy and made us laugh without loud jokes. Today, we still love such smart family comedy, and even its new seasons brought back those same lovable characters, reminding us how TV keeps our memories alive.

Talking about comedy, how can we forget Khichdi? The crazy Parekh family made every Gujarati home laugh many years back. Today, new versions of Khichdi keep bringing the same fun in a modern style, still loved by both children and elders.

And of course, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (TMKOC), where Dilip Joshi as Jethalal made Gujarati humour famous across India. The show continues even today, bringing simple laughter, social messages, and Gujarati values to every screen.

All these shows prove one thing that stories may change, sets may change, even cameras may change, but the emotions, values, and Gujarati heart never change.

Gujarati Serials and Shows That Keep Culture, Emotions, and Taste Alive

Serials like Rashi RikshawwaliMoti Baa Ni Nani VahuMehndi Ni Rachi Vay, and Sauna Ni Vahu on Colors Gujarati showcase real Gujarati life, family bonds, modern challenges, clean comedy, and heartfelt moments. These shows reflect our values, relationships, and culture, making us feel connected and proud.

Along with serials, cooking programs like Rasoi Show (still running with a modern format), Rasoi Ni Rangat, Tarla Dalal Cooking Show, Rasoi Magic with Deepal Gheewala,  Sanjeev Kapoor’s Khana Khazana (Gujarati homes’ staple), and these days trending Gujju Ben Na Nasta show keep our food heritage alive by teaching traditional recipes such as Handvo, Khandvi, Undhiyu, Fafda, and more. All age groups love these shows because they bring both taste and tradition to our screens.

Gujarati television, through its stories and recipes, beautifully keeps our culture close to our hearts.
