Imagine a founder in Surat. He has built a small machine that cuts fabric waste. His prototype works. His savings do not. A friend says, “Apply for a government grant.” But which one? And is it even open this month?
This is the real problem. Gujarat has many grants, but windows open, change, and close. Policies get replaced. Old blog posts keep showing outdated numbers. Founders lose weeks chasing schemes that have ended.
So we made this as your monthly checklist. Every figure links to an official or primary source. At Gujpreneur, we follow Gujarat’s founders closely. We know timing matters as much as the amount.
1. Startup Srujan Seed Support (S4): ₹2.5 lakh to ₹10 lakh
i-Hub Gujarat runs this grant under SSIP 2.0. It helps take a proof of concept to a product.
- Who can apply: innovators up to 35 years. This includes school students up to Class 12, diploma, UG, PG, and doctoral students, alumni, and dropouts from Gujarat. Ideas can be at the ideation, validation, or early stage.
- Watch out: i-Hub’s own page still shows an old cohort notice. Log in to the portal for the live window. The application manual explains every step.

2. SSIP 2.0 Prototype and IP Support
Apply through your college’s innovation cell. The official policy offers up to ₹2.5 lakh per prototype in higher education. It also covers IP costs, such as ₹75,000 for an Indian patent. The policy period ends on 31 March 2027, so apply early.
3. Startup Gujarat Seed Support (Industries Department)
This is the state’s main grant for registered startups. The older scheme ran under the Gujarat Industrial Policy 2020. The new Viksit Gujarat Industrial Policy 2026 took effect on 1 June 2026 for five years.
Early summaries of the new policy list these startup benefits:
- Monthly sustenance allowance of ₹25,000 for one year (₹30,000 with a woman co-founder)
- Seed support up to ₹30 lakh
- Extra ₹10 lakh for high social-impact projects
How it works: you apply through an approved Nodal Institute, which recommends you to the Industries Commissionerate. Register on the Startup Gujarat portal. Nodal institutes screen at fixed times. For example, Ahmedabad University’s VentureStudio lists March, July, and November. So November may be your next window.
GUSEC’s Startup Gujarat page currently shows applications closed. Ask your nodal institute directly.
4. Startup India Seed Fund Scheme (SISFS)
This is a central scheme, but Gujarat incubators deliver it. It offers up to ₹20 lakh as a grant for prototypes and trials. It also offers up to ₹50 lakh as convertible debentures or debt for market entry. Your startup must be DPIIT-recognised. Apply through the SISFS portal and choose a Gujarat incubator. Check the portal for the current window.

How to Check Any Grant Before You Apply
- Open the official page first, not a blog.
- Look for the policy end date.
- Confirm DPIIT or Udyam needs.
- Call or email the nodal institute.
- Never pay anyone to “guarantee” a grant.

Conclusion
Grants do not reward the best idea. They reward the prepared founder. Know which window is open, keep your DPIIT papers ready, and apply early. Bookmark this page, because we refresh it monthly. Building something in Gujarat? Register your business with Gujpreneur or explore our Startups section.
FAQs
1. Are Gujarat startup grants equity-free?
Most grants here are non-repayable. SISFS also has a debt or convertible part, which is different.
2. Can I get more than one grant?
Often no. The state scheme bars overlapping state startup benefits for the same project. SSIP is treated separately, per the scheme guidelines.
3. Do I need DPIIT recognition?
For SISFS, yes. Apply on the Startup India portal.
4. Is SSIP 2.0 still active?
Yes, until 31 March 2027, per the policy.
